In short

A relaxed portrait session through Edinburgh's Old Town with a local photographer, visiting Victoria Street, the closes off the Royal Mile and the best Castle views. Ideal for couples, families and solo travellers who want professional holiday photos they're actually in.

Most holiday photos of Edinburgh have the same problem: you’re not in them. This relaxed walk through the Old Town fixes that. A local photographer takes you to the most photogenic corners of the city, the closes, the curves of Victoria Street and the best views of the Castle, and photographs you along the way.

What happens on the walk

We meet in the Old Town and set off at an easy pace, stopping at a handful of spots chosen for the light on the day. The route usually includes:

  • Victoria Street and its colourful shopfronts.
  • The closes off the Royal Mile, with their stone archways and hidden courtyards.
  • Greyfriars Kirkyard, with the Castle rising behind.
  • The Vennel, for the classic view of the Castle from the Grassmarket.

You don’t need to know how to pose. You’ll get simple, natural direction throughout, so you can relax and enjoy the walk.

What’s included

  • A route planned around the light on the day
  • Natural, relaxed direction, so you never feel awkward
  • A set of edited photos in a private online gallery

Who it’s for

Couples, families, friends and solo travellers: anyone who wants holiday photos they’re actually in, taken somewhere beautiful.

Good to know

  • Wear comfortable shoes. The Old Town is all cobbles, steps and slopes.
  • Bring layers. Edinburgh weather changes quickly.
  • Light rain is fine. It often makes for better photos. In properly wild weather, we’ll move your session.
